Hi, I’m trying to figure out my long-term career path. I’ve worked in IA for most of my career. I recently got my CPA, and re-entered the work force after a 13 year break. Got back in as a Sr IA. Not sure what my options are in the long run with my background. Suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. I am coming from a place of ignorance - not sure what would suit my background.

I have been in Risk Advisory for about 5 years but I have been feeling extremely bored with the work and I am currently contemplating my next career move. What are realistic career opportunities for me excluding technical accounting, internal audit and compliance? Would obtaining an MBA help my career prospects?

Promotion to senior after 1 yr is pure BS. Why do firms do this? One year is not enough to expose one to enough variety and develop expertise to review and teach others. Encouraging mediocrity?!

I am starting a new job where I will be investigating sexual discrimination cases. Employment law will be a new practice area for me. Do you have any recommendations on good learning resources? Any treatises?

Other then acting, can I hear a story about getting into the business because of what you know not who?

Has anyone invested in a franchise? Is it worth the time as a side gig potentially turning into a path for business ownership?

I need everyone’s help😭 Money aside, how did you finalize which idea to pursue? I’m struggling to narrow it down from 4. Focusing is not an issue for me once I’m locked in, but I’m struggling to get there because I haven’t finalized which idea to focus on. Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

What third party applications are most of you guys using for internal audit management and sox testing? (I.e. workiva) and would you recommend it?

Would you leave external audit for internal audit even if there is no base increased, just sign on bonus? Been having an awful year round busy season and I’m just done. I have heard from multiple sources that WLB is better.
