SPOILER ALERT
Not a fan. They didn’t even cover Brazil
I assume they didn't send a crew to that race
I've been an F1 fan since '99, I'm in my late 20s and I must say, to date I have not finished a single season of DTS. I sincerely appreciate what it has done for the sport, but the output itself just has so much cringe IMO. The new season seems better however.
Though I did make a realization the other day, other than the cringe, the other reason why I can't get through it is that Netflix just draws out everything; accidents, conflicts, etc., whereas over a typical weekend, an accident or something occurs, we talk about it, then we move on, and then the pundits hang on to the small bits forever. I know its tv and they need to hype things up and drag them out, but that's just an observation I had.
Oh that’s a fair point! Even in the season - for some dramas I just can’t anymore. I consume a lot of F1 content from one raceweek to another and for some topics I was simply tired even as they happend (like the RB catering thingie), so I didn’t want to go through that again. Even if this time Will Buxton comments on it.
At the same time Alpine-Alonso-Piastri-McLaren - I could watch 100 more episodes on that, cause its just so fun and I would never get tired of it.
It was way better than season 4!
Strong points:
- Alonso - Piastri - Ricciardo - Gasly drama - I feel it was well presented, and for those that didn’t follow it closely, it could have been the „plot twist” similar to Daniel leaving RB in S1. Famous Oscar’s tweet in Geris voice? Chef’s kiss!
- Porposing Team principals drama - HILARIOUS!
- No fake dramas between teammates, focused more on What ACTUALLY happend rather than coming up with stuff
- I actually shed a tear or two on Yuki/Pierre episode
- Happy Mattia drinking wine ;)
Weak points:
- when I saw the silverstone AGAIN AND AGAIN in First 3 episodes, yet almost no Zhou
- only 15s for Seb
- no follow up on Checo - Max issues and crash in Monaco (that could have been gold if netflix actually got to the bottom of this mystery)
- No Brazil and George’s win
- Yuki fighting for 1 point wasn’t nearly as exiting as Netflix thought 💁♀️
No Brazil, no vettel, no Perez/Verstappen tension. Danny Ric is nice but him over vettel? Come on
Yep, surprised there was nothing about the Monaco crash by Perez being intentional.
Liked it as well. Steered away from the egregious manufacturered drama and showed a lot of the behind the scenes pieces.
I'm a McLaren fan, so I really appreciated the spot on the Oscar / Daniel saga.
Meh, at the end of the day, they are weaving a story, not a biography of the season. Can't capture everything!
I really liked it. Less drama, more strategy IMO.
That’s how I felt as well, I didn’t want the drama.
I dunno, I just like watching F1 for the racing not the fake dramas, plus no Brazil or Vettel ??
There should’ve been an episode on Hamilton colliding into everyone because he wasn’t on the front row anymore
Shh 🤫 you might wake up the #blessed crowd…
Better than last year imo
Good but missed too many major events...
Too little on Zhou
Vettels retirement
Ferrari screw ups.. could have spent an entire episode on that
Albon and the whole hair story... needed some time
Perez letting by Verstappen and not returning the position
No coverage of Monza... at all...
Just a lot of important stories that didn't make it and too much fluff.
Loved the Alpine McLaren and Alonso pieces
Liked the Haas Magnussen story
One entire episode on yuki? No Vettel? No Russell win. Even Schumacher didn’t deserve an entire episode.
It was alright, not the strongest storylines, but was able to get through it. Agreed that there could have been more about Checo/Max and Vettel’s departure. Perhaps part of this relates to how their production company (box to box films) also debuted their golf and tennis docu-dramas on Netflix?
