Well... at least you gained some things that may not be easily quantifiable but they may matter in the future such as network base and broader knowledge on some business aspects - both will likely be useful in your career path
Hey dude maybe go through the experienced hire recruiting process at another firm, don’t disclose your current salary, and insist on a pay band you know is commensurate with their MBA hires.
It should help with the next gig. Like D2 said though, I have an MBA from a middle-tier school and I don’t think it made a single difference in deciding my comp package.
I’d trumpet it. Just compound the MBA with the experience. Win/win
It does not hurt to respectfully introduce the topic to the right person. Ask if it is a viable discussion for now or at review time- express patience. Be calm and prepared if they proceed to have the full on discussion then and there. (If you are caught off guard, you risk sounding defensive or uncertain of your intention.)
I would avoid any comparative references and only focus on your value, contribution, and growth within/ for your department.
They may say your offer did account for anticipation of completing your degree. At that point all you can say is, ‘Thank you for helping me understand. I am happy to be here and will keep kicking butt at work. I’ll chat with you again at EOY/performance review time!’
Thank you TC1. This was the advise, or words I was looking for. I have my comp call next Monday and wondered if I should bring it up then.
No one is going to automatically dole out raises, because you earned a degree that they don’t even know about.
Most people who secure big raises through MBA do so by switching jobs. To a firm that already knows that they value that degree.
OP, no one "sees" it. Unfortunately that is the reality of this world. You have to force yourself upon this world to survive and succeed. In a more mellow tone, you've got to bring it up in your meetings with your PML that you expect pay upgrade. If they don't make the offer you move!
