Evaluating two exit offers.

One in an industry I want to build my career with a high caliber team (ex MBB) but seems a bit cutthroat and another in a new industry I’m not exactly interested in and supporting team isn’t the strongest (career industry folks) but my direct manager seems to really care about building my career and will lead a team vs more of an IC. Comp is similar and blue chip firms in their industry.

Thoughts on how to weigh these? Bit of a big fish/small pond scenario.

I feel like the first seems more exciting and challenging if you want to continue to step on the gas intensity wise. Your interest in the company and industry will probably lead you to success while it will probably be hard to fake interest in the second one and you could end up looking for an exit in another couple years

Think it comes down to how much you value the industry you work in. If it’s high, go with the first one. If it’s low, I’d go option 2 as your summary makes it seem like option 2 offers a “friendlier” work environment where you have more input (since you’re leading a team)

Can anyone give me their honest opinion on working at Eli Lilly, the Indy site? I have a few coworkers that have worked there in the past but no one recently. I’m currently being recruited pretty seriously for a in-vivo technician position in the auto-immune team, but I already have a job lined up at Envigo as a small animal sx tech. Salaries would be comparable (Lilly would most likely be a little more with bonuses), but if the culture sucks, I’d hate to burn a bridge with Envigo.

Told a friend of mine in tech I was considering moving to BCG. He asked me if I would have to move to Boston.

I followed up by asking what he thought the top consulting firms were. "I'd guess PwC and then McKinsey are the best. I've also heard of KPMG, Deloitte, and Bain, but I don't know much about them."

Just a reminder that outside our bubble no-one really cares about firm prestige etc.
