“Brain Rules” by John Medina is an interesting book that lays out the effects of detrimental behaviors, such as lack of sleep, in your brain. All info is based on studies published in peer reviewed journals too. Definitely an eye opener and a good kick in the butt for me to move towards a healthier lifestyle including the 7 to 8 hours of sleep I need.
Life is too short and not worth the constant stress. It is obvious that I can’t always follow my own rules but try to do so and only let myself slip 1 or 2 every 3 weeks or so.
Hope you enjoy it. It is a great read!
My friends were just telling me how I need to cut.myslf some.slack n get some.sleep else who knows what may happen.
Is it bad if I regularly get 5-6 hours of sleep a night?
Yeah it’s not good, even if you’re running on fumes it’s not good
Consistently not sleeping enough is pretty much the worst thing you can do to your body; it's a deficit you can't get rid off long-term.
"Long-term consequences of sleep disruption in otherwise healthy individuals include hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiovascular disease, weight-related issues, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and colorectal cancer."

"In the long term, chronic sleep deprivation may lead to a host of health problems including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and even early mortality."

Actually have to correct myself: it seems that you can "repay your sleep debt" even when accumulated over may years. Obviously, the detrimental health effects until that point will exist.

Yes, all the time. But what job isn’t stressful? As long as you find fulfillment that’s all that matters
I’m glad to hear you are learning a lot from your team. I mean that’s what it’s all about. I say take a boring job later. 20s-40s is the time to kill it
Well I’m living proof: I’m at high-risk for a stroke and I’m only in my late 20s.
Dude wtfff
