Everyone talks about “improving efficiency” but no one measures how much revenue gets lost while we wait for internal approvals, reorgs, and “new fiscal year” headcount resets. I’m having a hard time communicating this with my manager on how this affects my deals without coming off negative. I feel it’s important that she communicates this stuff to the higher ups. How would you handle this conversation, or should I not be even having it?

You should be having that convo. Those holdups keep you from being able to do your job, which could cost you money in lost commission and potentially put your job at risk. Have the conversation, just be tactful about it - frame it as wanting to streamline things to be more efficient, instead of saying "I'm losing deals because Brian won't respond to my approval requests."

like

I couldn’t agree more I’m literally seeing it affect my numbers especially now that’s in Q4. I’m having customers wait on discounts, and implementation due to approval delays which then affects my bottom line… which affects the company’s bottom line…

I would definitely recommend having that conversation. These conversatiions are never fun but they are always worth it in the long run.

I agree, I rather have the difficult conversation now and have the feedback be communicated to leadership so we can hopefully trigger some consistency

like

you should have the conversation.

It went well actually! I think she was skeptical at first but she took it well and even brought up the items I had brought up and the effects it has on our process like being able to get discounts on time, how long it takes to adjust contract language, etc to the team and it felt validating as a group! I’m glad I had the conversation thank you

Bruh!!!! We have our annual reviews coming up and I have not been moving the needle. Meetings stall out? Prospects go ghost. My manager has been on the calls with me and she’s like, “I don’t understand what is happening”. The economy is so f’ing weird right now, people are scared to spend money.

I feel you! But I never stress out as long as people are in a similar boat as me or if the company or industry in general isn’t doing well!

I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. This is a major red flag, but I can’t help but feel that I am missing out since this role pays 50% over what I currently make. Should I let the recruiter know? What’s your take on this?

“Job hopper” and “quiet quitting” are all schemes made up by boomers to make you think everything is the employees fault. When in reality people are just getting out of bad situations. Older companies do whatever they can to pay you the least amount and get the max work out of you. Except our generation will just leave amid we’re being mistreated, not complain for 35 years making 50k and 0 advancement.
