You don’t need to take any of those steps to improve those skills. If you are currently FAANG your company has free resources to meet each of those, and you should have a mentor if you have big aspirations and a career path idea. If you’re at a FAANG and want to work at a startup, find a startup and force yourself to develop those skills. If you miss academia, go back to school.
OP, I think you’ll find most in tech value experience over education (myself included). As others have said, there are lot of programs internally to grow skills but it’s my personal belief that if you want to learn something, make the jump and just do it. Uncomfortable situations yield high periods of growth.
You can do this by changing your role within your company, job hopping to another FAANG for the position you want (I choose this avenue), going to a start up to learn a TON (but also work a ton), or go into academia which is more about prestige vs experience IMO. I’ve done community college, and Ivy, and quite frankly think college doesn’t prepare you for much of anything these days (outside of select programs like CS). Choose the path that most excites you and gives you personal fulfillment.
100% agree, think gaining more experience is vital.. almost MBA programs want more experienced members anyway so it's a win win

Thank god I didn’t go to ivy undergrad (300k TC 5 YOE)
What’s your point, other than trying to 1-up the OP? If that’s what we’re doing, I did go to an Ivy, and I make more than you with less YOE. Pretty much irrelevant to the post though
If you are looking for intellectual stimulation, look to the projects and people themselves. There are some rare gems out there but you won't necessarily find them in one particular area. You have to seek them out. I would start by looking at companies that are working on more advanced projects.
