Hi Everybody,
I'm currently working as an outsource in Rapid Metro as Technical Assistant/Civil. I earned a Master degree in Water Resource Engineer after B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Due to Covid 19 I took job back in Civil sector even though I have a masters degree in WRE. It's been almost 6 months of constant applying and rejection and still I'm nowhere close to a job in my dream branch which is the Water sector.Im hopeful that through this portal I may find an entry level position in water
The real battle 😂

Hello Verizon fellows, In Deloitte, there's a facility to claim a certain reimbursement for purchasing mobile devices through their portal or something. Similarly, do VDSI employees have any discounts or reimbursement for purchasing devices through Verizon? If so, kindly let me know how to check it out. Thanks in advance.

I don't know that I agree with this. It is definitely different. But not necessarily harder. Today you have digital access at your fingertips . In a nano second you can fire blast your resume' to hundreds of potential establishments. You can have virtual interviews scheduled 5 minutes apart, making the process streamlined and can be done in a single day.
Years ago, you filled out an application and a resume' in person to each potential job inquiry. You had to drive to each place, talk to a secretary, fill out an application, submit your resume', only to go back home and wait for a phone call. If you were lucky enough to stumble across a place that was actually hiring.
As the weeks ticked by, you spent countless hours on the phone, calling and recalling each place that you submitted an application to. Finally when you did land an interview, the hiring company was always at an advantage because there were more candidates than available positions. Thus you were in an office competing against upwards of 30 people, all looking for the same job. The ONLY opening that was available.
So, no.. I can not agree that it used to be easier. It was a struggle and candidates have become lazy. Nobody wants to work for it anymore. Which reflects in the substandard work that is often performed.
I totally agree. It feels like the process has become more complicated with things like ATS systems and the emphasis on certifications (and then other people say certs don't matter so it's confusing). It’s harder to stand out now I would say, especially with so many applicants online. I feel like something has gotta change soon or else so many people are going to default on their loans/go bankrupt, etc. I know so many people looking for work right now
