I’ve been with my same PI firm since I passed the bar. The first year they paid me a flat salary and I got a small bonus at the end of the year. Starting the second year I got to share in the profits from the cases I work on. Profit sharing is standard for PI firms-hope this helps!
It was 8 years ago so not sure it will help you now but it was $70k. It didn’t change my second year once they started me on the extra profit sharing
First firm (first 6 months of practice): $55k (small firm)
Second (one of the largest PI firms in my stare)firm 6 months to 1.5 years of practice: $60k plus a very very small commission
1.5
The commission has always been very small for me (less than $10k per year), and my base has steadily rose. I’m in my fifth year and until this year, I was bringing in less than six figures.
That’s rough. What state?
NY attorney at small but reputable PI firm. Now have 1 full year of experience. Base 65k, but I get 40% of origination fees. Have only had one case settle so far, but have brought in two potential mid-six figure cases in the last 2 months so I hope to eventually start doubling my salary annually with commission from origination cases
