This is not the kind of news I need to read the week before Christmas 😥
^not true on the down time. A lot of friends tell me they have down time during the day where they read news/etc and right around 4pm a pile of work hits their desk and they need to stay past midnight.
In the mid-top bucket, makes sense
Your friend probably wishes they were in PE though- none of my banker friends want to stay longer than 2 years
Banking is a few orders of magnitude more lucrative than consulting. Bonuses have a few extra zeros. Bases tend to be proportionally smaller.
P2- I also heard similar from a buddy in banking. He literally would come in for a morning call or two, then leave for several hours for lunch and to hit the gym, then return late afternoon and actually have work start rolling in
I will never understand how people even manage doing investment banking for two years. It's a brutal lifestyle.
Yep friend just started, told me avg bonus should be 200-300% lol. But he works min 80 hours and its none stop. You dont get downtime like we do in consulting. Hes banking for a couple years than exit op.
Stressing me out too
