Everyday I come on Fishbowl and find at least one such post with some of the most chutiya tactics used by some companies.
They never disappoint me.
First off absconding is not a criminal offence. Max they can do is file a civil suit. Most companies won't do this either bcz maintaining a lawsuit costs much more that the resource is worth to them. All this is intimidation tactics. Name the company here if you can, others will be warned
A resignation email as simple as "Due to unforeseen circumstances , I quit effective immediately" and cced to your personal email address should be sufficient. No need to abscond. No one can force you to work.
Tell the product company you are willing to work as a contractor for 3 months and to defer the payment till you join and adjust the payment in form of joining bonus.
If they agree, resign from current company. You get 2 salaries for 3 months 🤪

What a terribly worded clause. It seems like they can't afford decent lawyers. I wouldn't worry about any "legal action" they may take.
That said, they're saying that they would file an FIR as a precautionary measure: in case something has happened to you and they're unaware.
How recent have you joined?
In some companies there is a period when you can resign and serve reduced notice period (as low as a week).
Check your company's policy.
