Legit question: is this your first time flying? Being at the airport 2 hours before is like cooking meat to USDA recommended temperatures. Overkill!
Better to go through security the night before and sleep in one of the chairs in the waiting area by the gate. That way, you can be assured of making the flight.
6 hours early at minimjm
Pre check might not even open till 5 or 6. Yes it’s overkill. Out of CLT if I have a 645 my goal is to be at the airlport by 6
Love field is easy peazy. Much chiller than DFW. no need to show up b4 6.
Definitely not my first time flying, about my 3rd flying from DAL though (usually out of DFW). Have had close calls at DAL before as they seem short staffed TSA-wise. Normally my rule is 1 hour before departure and that’s always worked except that one time it almost didn’t at DAL, so was hoping someone who flies out of DAL regularly on Thursday mornings could let me know if it’s really that bad
You could also get there at 8pm the night before. Have a meal and expense it as part of per diem. Find a comfy chair. Sleep. And be ready to board first thing!
Also saves a night of hotel.
I always fly out of DAL with pre-check. I would normally arrive at 5:30 for a flight at 6:45 (assuming you begin boarding at 6:15 with priority boarding). I’m often overly conservative but I like to give myself time to grab some coffee, etc
^ That sounds good, I’ll give that a shot. Thanks!
