Typically Director level is at least 10 years total experience. VP and CFO usually need at least 15 years total experience. Getting VP / CFO is incredibly hard though. I feel like it takes some luck to get to that level. Most will top out at SM / Director level.
I feel like some of that luck will disappear, and to get to CFO level is just a bit of networking, writing publications related to your industry, and getting involved with related professional organizations. I feel like with demonstrated experience, the role comes naturally for the right individual at the right time.
Thoughts?
2 years at each analyst. 2-3 at manager, 2-4 years as sr. Manager. 3-5 as Director. Then be right place right time for anything above that.
