The boutique patent lit firms don’t seem to have a lighter workload and it seems like most in house positions require tech transaction and patent persecution experience, which is not easy to get while in big law (since different groups). I am a junior associate and any advice is appreciated.

A junior associate at big law here. When you get emails from recruiters asking for a call to discuss new opportunities, do you respond declining or do you just not respond? What’s the norm? Do you respond to cold emails?

one thing I do not do is pick up the phone before 9:30…after 7 years, you would think they’d learn.

Im a first year and this hasn’t happened to me at my firm and they tell us not to cut our own time, but my first firm (short stint, small firm) did this to me allll the time and made me feel guilty — so just curious if this has happened to anyone in big law.

I’m a first year associate (almost second year). I work at a national firm and I’m not a litigator. When I started with the firm, I was told I could work out of any office. Long story short, I regret choosing the office that I chose. I’d like to transfer to another office - is that a difficult ask? I’m licensed in the state I’d like to transfer to. I don’t know how to make this request.

Switched firms and new firm doesn’t pay any origination% of business brought in until the total $ brought in is mid-five figures. Standard? My book is below that threshold. Old firm paid 10%.
