For McKinsey please — I was laid off from Accenture and just passed the screening for the BA role specifically with Marketing and Sales function. I haven’t done a case in 2 years and the one at Accenture was very easy. Anything that I should use? I have the 1:1 coaching session in 2 weeks, then the coach interview with McKinsey Alum. I need to be prepared. I have 2 weeks to study all day. Please help :)

Someone told me to use Rocket Blocks. Thoughts?

like

Use rocket blocks. Worth the subscription. They have lots of sample charts and drills. If you have time, review craftingcases.com and their videos on YouTube.

like

You have a lot of time. First, do not panic. I am in the process now too, but have to prepare on top of my current job. Use rocket blocks to practice and learn mental math. Listen to as many cases as you can and learn a few strategies for success. Finally practice as much as possible. 1 case per day out loud. I am looking for a strong case partner if you think you’re ready for one lmk!

like

Thank you, I mean honesty I don’t think I will be much help to you but I can try, I need a lot of work tbh

Find 3 friends of friends that are actually working at MBB and have them give you a practice interview. Then find another colleague, former colleague, friend who is a consultant to give you 3-5 cases.

I went to a no name school so it’s difficult.. but that is exactly what I am trying to do! Thank you!

Hey! Same boat. I really like rocket blocks and also management consulted is pretty good.

like

Maybe, yea I will be apart of the Marketing and sales. I have the WebEx, luckily I am able to do 2 of them.

I interviewed at Amazon for a PM role in Dec. 2020 and was ultimely rejected. I was told I have to wait a year to reapply. Fast forward to June 2022, another recruiter reaches out to me re: a PM role. I pass the screening interview, and move on to the virtual on site interview stage. I randomly get a call from the recruiter telling me there is now a TWO YEAR reapply policy in place so I'm not eligible to interview for any PM roles until Dec. 2022. Anyone ever heard of this policy? Seems strange

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

Our firm told everyone no bonuses this year due to the pandemic. However, people like myself with high utilization received a “bonus” in terms of a gift card. My director notified me of this, but the other day my boss was mentioning how no bonuses this year really sucks. I was told by the director to not mention it to anyone but I figured if anyone knew I got one it’d be my boss. I feel super uncomfortable now because do I essentially lie to my boss because I’m not supposed to talk about it.
