The economy does not care about people get by or not. Sorry fro breaking for the economic illiterate - money does not grow on a tree.
Less people working = less wealth is generated = lower standard of living.

This is valid, but the unemployment benefit is a drop in the bucket pf printed money. All the printed cash has gone to big corporations and the ultra wealthy. If you are concerned about that, you are looking at the wrong thing.
My impression is a lot of Fishbowlers have grown up insulated from people in lower socioeconomic classes and believe they “merit” their pay and wealth.
Maybe you do but first tell me how the wealthy haven’t been lobbying the government for special treatment since the US became a country. Tell me there isn’t a revolving door between the government and Wall Street.
Steve Mnuchin was just reported in the NYT to have pulled back oversight on hedge funds. How is his work history not a conflict of interest?
A lot of wealthy individuals should be called out for a different kind of welfare - tax breaks.
We do not operate in a “free market” capitalist economy. We subsidize the wealthy in numerous ways.
The PPP program went to many companies who kept funds until they were publicly reported for receiving them.
If lower and middle class Americans need this aid they should get it. Wall Street, banks and other sectors routinely get bailed out for the sake of the economy meanwhile laying off their workers and making sure their CEO was paid in line with his “peers.”
Are you willing to pay 1.5x more for your goods and services? If so, then yes they’re underpaid. If no, then they’re paid as expected.
