How would you define great communication?

To sleep or not to sleep? That is the question... that I’m contemplating right now. At what point is sleep the better choice in the middle of a very busy week? Will I be more productive tomorrow if I call it quits and actually get a full 8 hours tonight? Or do I keep churning out half-assed work product until the wee hours of the night in hopes of catching up, since I’m already two days behind where I need to be?

At my law firm, only senior associates and partners go to court and take depositions. Is this normal for a big/vault law firm?

How do you get good at thinking on your feet? I find I always need time to think and analyse before being able to answer client queries (even those that are considered simple by others). I don't want to rush and get it wrong. I avoid phone calls for this reason which isn't great when you're in the service industry so it's starting to impact my career.

Should I take more initiative? It’s my stub year and I’m getting worried. My hours have been super low the past two months, I’m talking like maybe billing 3-4 hours a day and billing no hours on multiple days. I ask for work but the tasks I get don’t require a lot of time. What does it mean when a partner gives associates, especially junior associates, origination credit? Practically, I don't think it makes a difference except maybe for bonuses, but I'm wondering if there's any deeper meaning than extending gratitude?
