Hi Fishes, I am bit confused to pick the role in KPMG lighthouse as Sr Cloud Data architect or Saama technology as a Project lead. Money wise it is not a big difference. In KPMG I will work with partner where as in saama I will work with project/program manager. Please suggest your opinion. Saama KPMG KPMG India

You’re too far out. That far you’ll need to do CSPs. Apply for jobs maybe 4-5 months out to start getting practice and 3 to start taking it seriously
Keep in mind too that it's not a great time for hiring ANYWHERE, which may change in a few months. Also, if you're able, I highly recommend taking some extra time to adjust back into civilian life before jumping into your next career.
If you’re using a graduate program to train for a new career then you should be wrapping up testing and admissions packages for target schools.
If you’re looking to break into a new industry you should be using one of the many non-profits focused on transitioning veterans to learn about your new potential career (e.g. American corporate partners, Veterati)
Otherwise you should be looking at blue chip internships (e.g. DoD SkillBridge) that can give you practical experience in the new career of your choice or the host of 501c3’s that cater to veterans finding jobs and connecting them with industry.
Now is the time to look around at companies you would be interested in working for and NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK!!!!
By network - we mean genuinely be curious about people. Starting with vets is easier - ask about their journey, what their job and work culture is like, ask about perks and pain points, figure out what they need, and how you might be able to help.
If you’re still interested and the connection is good. Ask to meet more of their colleagues who are aligned to a certain function, geography, business, etc.
I started applying 30 days out.
Don’t pigeonhole yourself into technical or law enforcement careers either. For example, the American College has a free scholarship for vets for all financial planning designations that doesn’t use the Post 9/11.
Expect little, be humble and coachable to make your transition as frictionless as possible.
