For those who are studying for the CISSP, how did you did you make time for studying, how long in terms of hours per week did you study and how make weeks/months did you study for? I’m burnt out from working so much and just not having time. Trying to study on top of it adds to the stress and depression but also not studying makes me feel just as bad. Any advice?

There is a great discord channel to help. Not only do they go over questions in depth (with arguments) so you can really understand rather than memorize but possibly more important is it gets you away from the feeling of isolation that study can cause.
It’s called Certification Station - great group of people.

This will only be part of your study routine but you can find videos online that you can listen to while doing other things. Cybrary has one by Kelly Handraham that I found useful.

I enrolled in the course and cancelled the pro subscription after i finished since i didn’t think it was worth it to keep paying for the subscription

Take PTO to study, not ideal, but that was the only way I could find the time

Studied after work hours. From 12-3 in the night. Took me approx 3 months of study. This worked for me because I feel more productive in the night. Might not work for everyone.

Yes, that definitely applies to me as well. I’m in IT audit (mostly SOX stuff unfortunately at Big 4) and desperately looking to get out and into Info Sec. The motivation is there but just need to somehow tackle the schedule and carving out time.

For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?
