Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

$1000 per day. I’ve been doing this for 20. Worked on about every product category there is.

$1200 for most tech clients. $1000 minimum.
Senior or EPs should charge 1600-2000/day
R/GA 2 yes I’m guessing there’s a magic number between what one is accustomed to making in a W2 situation, the agency rate card amount (if known), and what one should actually be accounting for depending on their personal circumstances (in addition to padding for a “day” which we all know will likely go over 8 hrs for certain types of freelance projects). Or does agency overhead directly convert to 1099?
Example: let’s say one is on a W2 project at $100/hr, and the agency side rate card for that role is $250/hr. For W2 the rate will typically be billed by the hour anyway and include OT over 40 hrs/week. If one can opt for 1099, it will be a day or weekly rate inclusive of OT.
As a senior producer/PM who has worked for 2 of the places mentioned here I’m rarely offered a 1099 option. This doesn’t necessarily bother me because I do like to be covered under the aforementioned workers comp (and unemployment) insurance, but I’m considering whether or not it makes sense for me to change this at some point.
This thread has been super helpful and has me thinking!
I produce work, but usually have at least a junior who can to the trafficking and the menial stuff. Honestly, I'd prefer to stay closer to the work, otherwise I become replaceable middle management and lost touch.
1000-1200
Doing campaigns, immersive and shoots. Basic creative production.
I think what seems tricky about EP and up is that they still are producing work where as No managing director for account is working day to day on jobs like that. Feels like producers never scale high enough
True. That’s true. They also get to cherry pick the best opportunities. I can put up w the politics if I get to (consistently) do badass work.
$800
In 2001, as a coordinator - I was collecting freelance producer invoices for $800 a day in a secondary market at a decent agency.

One more aspect about W2 - you can file for state unemployment when things are slow like they are right now.
Speaking of which, do we have a W2 freelance group here?
To add to the question…EPs, what types of projects are you producing?
2020-2022
$900- $1000
2023
Who knows? $750??
Wait is everyone quoting W2 or 1099?
Great callout! I was quoting W-2
