I work in Kpmg as a legal specialist (before I worked in BigLaw for 1 year) and I have just passed the NY bar exam (plus I have the gc and an LLM). I am sending my resume to big four and big law trying to get a job offer but I just did one interview. Any tip or advice? What are the firms that would find my profile interesting?

Anyone moved from a Salesforce admin/BA/product owner role to a Solution Engineer at Salesforce? How was the transition and compensation? I’m thinking about applying for a core SE at Salesforce but as a bit nervous about the sales aspect of it.

I had 2 rounds of interviews with EY GDS. Followed by HR reaching out to get documents and relevant information. Please mind HR discussion has not happened yet.

Its been more than a week since there is no response from HR side/GDS team.

Does this mean that they did not consider me? Because I believe that HR asking for docs is a clear indication that I cleared my interviews.

Is this a norm? Any suggestions on how to proceed?

I'm applying for a job that wants at least two business or professional references. Thing is my current job is my first job out of college and I don't want them contacting my current employer. Who am I suppose to list as a reference? Leave it blank although they personally asked for references? List college professors? Ask a coworker to be a reference and not spread work I'm leaving?

Citi salary? The job post says 5+ years of experience in compliance. I told the recruiter my minimum salary expectation is $150k. I have an interview scheduled but does anyone know the range? I don’t have a job grade to give or anything like that.

Been working for a boutique firm a little under a year. Came in as a senior consultant (due to previous types of experience mostly in government). 7.5 YOE, Masters, blah, blah.

Anyway, I came in at 90K. Recently got 3K bonus (split). Around my 6 month mark, recruiters have started reaching out with opportunities ranging from $140K-$170K. Currently interviewing with a few in that range. What a shock to me coming from public sector. I really undersold myself because I didn’t know any better. 💀

2017 grad so technically a 4th year. Lateraled to a CRE boutique in NYC that’s a major player. Learned quickly that my experience/knowledge/organization is not up to par (was a COG in the machine at prior firm). Just had EOY review and, though positive sounding, they’re dropping me to a 3rd year to ensure I’m not billing as a 4th year and able to do the work to learn/get up to par. I feel pretty okay about it (market salary deduction notwithstanding), but want to make sure I’m not being naive.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? How do I get taken off a matter I really hate? I’ve been on it for a year and I absolutely hate the team. The culture is toxic and the partners are horrible bullies. My work product has been suffering as a result and I worry about this affecting my reputation/reviews. This is my busiest matter and I’ve tried saying I’m busy on something else but no one is listening. What are the pros and cons of telling the assigning team or the managing partner that I need off for my mental health?

Work for a firm who fudged the special bonus (not special as expected to hit hours in order to get it - was about 50 hours off). Billed 1850 cf 2000 requirement for year end bonus and looks like anyone not hitting won't get year end bonus. I'm not expecting a full bonus (and do not want to come across as entitled) but feel like deserve something for the work put in over the year, gaining recognition in legal publications across my speciality and being seconded to client. What would you do?
