Millennial here—similar to another commenter, as someone that graduated in 2010, I understand how hard it can be when things look bleak. My three biggest pieces of advice: 1) learn how to work smarter, not harder. Knowing how to play the game in consulting is key. Unfortunately, it took me until I became a mother as a Manager to learn this lesson when it became absolutely necessary . 2) Jump on the AI train. Seriously. Learn everything you can about it and make yourself as helpful and useful as possible in that area to the people more senior to you. 3) Get off social media. If I had had social media in my 20s to compare my life to others it would have made me absolutely miserable. I find myself falling into this trap now as a relatively successful person in my late thirties, so I can only imagine how hard it would be for someone just starting out. Hope this helps 💜

We said the same thing in 2008-2010. Believe in your own future.
Good thing whining is free.

How’s your budgeting? Stuff is legitimately a lot more expensive than it used to be. Hard to get around it.
Oddly too good? My brand of Gen Z nihilism is the super saver. https://www.theatlantic.com/family/2026/03/gen-z-money-anxiety-savings/686558/?gift=-e0-B_b7LQ3lpZICGs29uK0U_qYYFuR9Y2dIcw-R56Y
Maybe start by turning off social media.

I was financially wiped out in 2011. Lost everything, house foreclosure, etc. I had to do a complete reset. I went back to school and earned two degrees from elite schools. It was hard as hell, but worth every bit of sweat and tears. I'm in the best place financially I've ever been in. The point is that there is always a way, regardless of how hard it looks. Have you considered not being able to afford certain "things" could be a blessing in disguise? A lot of people who buy houses end up regretting it. Don't be duped by other people's definition of success.

Two more pieces of advice. First, self care. You have to take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, etc. If you don't it will make challenges feel insurmountable. Second, If you do, you have to stop caring about what other people think and establish firm boundaries. This took me a long time and in some cases it required me to cut people - so called friends and family- out of my life. If you are striving to achieve something big, there will always be people who will try to create friction for you. If they are not onboard or at least not interfering with you achieving your goal, you need to examine those relationships.
