Get an authorized user for your delta card and put your spouse on it?
Combine it all except perhaps a credit card to purchase gifts for other on. You are getting married...if you are going to leave it all separate and split bills etc. just be roommates.
Agree on spending and communicate. Neither of you should feel guilty spending on things you want and neither of you should be criticizing the other's spending or.making the other feel guilty. It's all about communication and being a team.
Finances are up there as one of top reasons for divorce. If you've not talked about all this stuff already, then you should before you get married.
(Note - there are some rare occasions where combining may not make sense, certain 2nd marriages, past bankruptcy, multi-million earner, etc. but these are the rare exceptions)
Continue to use your personal cards, but pay the balance from your joint checking account. My husband and I had no joint credit cards.
My fiancé and I were talking about this and I think what i’ll do is spend money the same on my CC for the points and pay it off with the joint account.
Paychecks get sent to personal checking accounts. Then autopay makes automatic contributions to a joint checking account, joint savings account, personal savings account, retirement fund, etc.
Joint credit card used to pay joint bills and is paid out of the joint checking account. Personal credit card used for whatever isn’t a joint expense, and it’s paid out of your personal checking.
Based upon your joint finances and what works best for you both, you set the amount of the contributions to the joint accounts and reassess as needed. The bulk of your money goes joint, but it gives you your own small piggy bank to do whatever you want without feeling guilty.
I agree with most of the points here. I’ll only say you should get a more flexible points system. I prefer MR (American Express ) or UR (Chase). I use a combination of Amex platinum, Amex Gold, and CSR for all my purchases.
You’ll get more bang for your buck and flexible rewards that way.
