Unless I misinterpreted the EY tax All Hands call today, it seems like we are going to be giving smaller raises, but larger bonuses, going forward. Waiting for a “large” once a year bonus doesn’t sound fun. I think it will only cause more people to quit now.
Deloitte 2. When it comes to jumping firms for a new title, in my experience they give less money because they want you to earn the raise. Aka come eval time I’d expect that manager to make a fat raise. Whereas that ey offer while he will make more does not guarantee that he’ll make manager or when he will make manager. Aka the title is with more than cash this round.
Guys there is a reason Deloitte is #1 and EY is #3. Not to pander and individual differences do exist but in general because Deloitte makes more money they can pay a lot higher bonuses than EY can. Bonus of Deloitte is multiples of EY. So in total u come out better at Deloitte besides the work which is much more rewarding than EY especially in fields like technology. Beyond a point in your career if the firm isn’t strong your career will suffer with it. Deloitte and EY are at points now where EY will never be able to overtake Deloitte no matter what they do. And if you go back to history you will see why I say so. Again to each one of you these may start mattering only at certain points in your career but in general I would always go with a stronger firm.
I’m in their tax practice. And I came from EY. Trust me comp is better. Like way better. EY’s bonus is max 5-7k if u r a very good performer while Deloitte’s could be 50k. That’s how big the difference is. And this is at all levels.
They’re literally all the same. Differentiators are individual people. If you can’t tell who you’re more comfortable with, take whatever is higher paying.
I meant private client services above sorry my phone corrected.
Super nervous about this next step in my career just because I know it will be different from being a senior. I heard Deloitte better equips you and has better resources than EY.
