Gonna review some portfolios soon (students and juniors). I’ve done this before for CWs and ADs, but apparently there will be some designers specifically for branding.

Anything I should note differently? I’ve been in a strictly “above-the-line advertising” bubble my whole career. I don’t even know what a good design portfolio looks like. Anything will help, even what the top design programs are so I can look up their recent grad books.

If I am planning on living somewhere in CT soon, is there some sort of general guideline to consider, keep in mind, calculate to figure out how much is enuf to take a job that requires you to commute to NYC 3 or more days a week? Or Boston 3 or more days/week?

Does anyone have any tips on how to reach out to a recruiter? Is it weird to just email someone I found online with my resume?

Sad post, in need of some support **** my partner and i tried for 1 year to conceive naturally, only to have a miscarriage and start our IVF journey. 1 year into that - we had 5 healthy PGT-A and PGT-M tested embryos and were hopeful to implant. What do you do when there’s absolutely nothing going on at work? The projects I’m working on are all in production, and I’ve raised my hand several times about taking on new work, but there’s nothing right now. Don’t get me wrong, the down-time is nice…but I’m hungry to make stuff.

How often do you reevaluate your working in advertising and how do you process it or what conclusions have you come to? I think about it at least weekly and I’m not sure why.

I am mainly working with shops in the States as a non-native speaker and I am constantly worried about my ability to communicate (in any professional occasion but mostly in meetings). I am working with some of the best shops and this makes the situation worse considering that I am largely surrounded by an extremely competent group of folks that are super good at any form of communication. How do you feel as a native speaker when you meet non-natives? Should they be worried, or, they doing ok?
