@PwC 2- it was complicated. But 6 months is what was in writing on my employment contract on mykcurve > my personal details > change your name > miscellaneous > employment contract (that might not be exact, but that's how you get to your contract, it's under "change your name" at the very bottom) unless they removed them....
@ PwC 2 & 3 - I negotiated what my contract said, they tried to say some addendum came out, but the addendum wasn't an enforceable contract, I did all of that by myself to get my 6 months. But getting over that, I needed an attorney, and it wasn't severance anymore, it became a settlement for wrongful termination based on several factors. So, it depends on your case, and what the situation is.
P10 how many years were you with the firm?
I am worried because my practice is shaky. 😬
@OP want a referral?
Oh no! 2 weeks is awful! And for me, over 5 years
P10 did they just offer you severance or did you negotiate?
@ PwC 2 - they started at 3, I showed them my employment contract at 6, they honored the 6, but then I negotiated for much more than that.
What level are you P10? I just left and am wondering if I can negotiate my severance. I'll revisit my original contract.
Hmm... how recently? Did you sign anything? I was manager level
I did not sign anything.
@ PwC 2 - how long were you with the firm? Were you through an acquisition? What level? It might help to get an attorney too... depending on the situation.
P10 two years, and not through an acquisition. Did you work with an attorney?
@ P2 - then my guess is you got 3 months or less...?
Nope, two weeks.
I am 95% sure that I will be laid off shortly. I am a D, and my contract has only 2 months' severance in it. Good relationship with RP, this is just business. If I want to negotiate higher severance, do I need to work with an attorney?
This is such a sad post. How did you negotiate P10?
How much did the attorney cost? Was the cost worth it?
Thanks, P10, for the context and for the quick response as well.
Is it that bad at PwC?
@ PwC 3 - if you have a case, then get an attorney. If you don't you might not need one, but it doesn't hurt to get one to help read through the paperwork they throw at you. HR will even say "you have time for your attorney to review" to it doesn't hurt to have one ready.
