In my experience, there is always room to negotiate after the first offer. Make a strong case why you should get more base pay.

like

You should always negotiate after an offer. That doesn’t mean this is lowball, but you should still ask for more.

Declined the offer today. Appreciate everyone’s input.

Accountant or Sr. Accountant? Not bad for entry level

Accountant (L5) which is 3-5 YOE. I’ll be at 4 YE experience in October. Current TC is 100k (including bonus)

You’re getting 14 shares of their RSUs which based on the price today is $50k. That on top of $35k in sign on bonus + Base? Lol no, this is not a low ball offer.

OP, think up a number you’d have to be stupid to turn down, then add $5k.

See if they say yes or counter with a number really close to your stupid high number. If you’re in the DC area, you should be making more base.

like

Negotiate your first two year bonus and RSUs. I doubt they we will give you more stock but may be generous with bonus. Base negotiations are last resort because that’s the only driver after year 2 bonus dries out unless of course you’re top of the top performer your first two years in which case we take you to a special room made of money.

120k TC isn’t bad for L5 accountant

Just curious, why do you think this was lowball?

Based off talking to a friend at L6 in AWS. 90K base In Arlington is really not much tbh. Felt like I could have been given a better offer as a starting ground. Ultimately just feel this is not the best choice for me atm hence why I declined instead of trying to negotiate.

Fight for a 100k salary and higher bonus that’s something they normally feel more comfortable doing then giving you 100% more salary

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I am EOR on a number of structures in development, I manage EITs and Drafters (within projects; I'm not a supervisor), and am doing a lot in general. I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?

Recently accepted a temp role as an HR admin for a former employer. Previously interned there & left because my supervisor did not have any growth opportunities planned out for me; this was in spite of my stellar performance, as reflected in my 90 day review. She has since left the company, but there’s crazy turnover in the company & in the HR department in particular. Just that an HR coordinator resigned. Is it worth going back into a dumpster fire w/ no leadership to gain experience?

What’s the bar of passing the first round at McKinsey like? if I didn’t do well in the same part of a cases for both interviews (ie reading graphs for high level insights and implications) would that be even worse than having different performance across other areas (ie not doing well in A on case 1 but not doing well in B on case 2)? I thought the quant was fine but i dont think i did well on graph reading for either cases. Pei was also fine and so was the rest of the case

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕
