Again, though you have never heard it, it happens. Experienced SMS here and SMs with niche skills maybe, but majority of 1-3 SMs at EY are not even cracking 180. Why so many are leaving. The offer is on par with what folks at your yrs at level are making. Just want to make sure you make a truly informed decision.
EY1, I think OP is saying that Deloitte typically brings people from other firms in one level lower than they were (eg senior managers at other firms come in D as managers). Most ppl that leave get a job at the next level at other firms. There are some ppl that make the argument to come to D at the same level, but they usually need to have years experience at that level plus strong relationships
No SM at EY is SM at Deloitte. The next step is PPED. Don't listen to that garbage.
If that’s not a low ball offer, that’s probably not worth it. You’re almost at SM at D and probably have a better route to PPMD by staying
I think the $165k is low ball offer but Recruiter is saying that’s the max EY can give for SM1/2. What’s the SM range in EY, NYC Office
Ask for 175k. What do you have to lose. You know your qualified. If they are willing to give you the title they should be willing to pay you. 10k is a joke at your range after taxes that's two months of daycare maybe.
Go for 175k believe in yourself and the market. You could probably go higher. Hope it works out for you.
Stay at Deloitte, why throw away your network, reputation, and promo progress for barely any increase in salary??
Not sure how true it is but someone just told me that SM at EY is equivalent to M at D
D7 relax get off your high horse Deloitte does not bring people in from other big 4 firms at a lower level. Get real. Maybe from Cohn & Resnick but not from another big 4.
Deloitte koolaid
This is a guaranteed title and that is not
SM range is huge, I've heard 125-300. Deloitte isn't known for huge salary bumps at promotion and you'll also get a sign on
I’ve never heard of a SM making less than 200 in NY. I have Manager peers in the 180-200 range so it’s strange the recruiter is tipping you out at that number.
If you don’t have an MBA, that sounds about right. I wouldn’t take it. Stay at D and jump after 1-2 years as an SM.
This sounds very low, especially for NY. That’s a decent salary for a manager and a shitty one as SM. Agree that you will have a better path at D.
I wouldn't do it. Counter for a 20% raise (190k) and see what they come back with. It sounds like you are in a good spot with D so no need to rush it. Imo not worth switching if you are in a good spot for less than 15%.
What do you think Deloitte is going to bump you to?
You were low-balled. To be honest with you.
Hypothetical scenario
M1 115k 12% raise
M2 128.8k 10% raise
M3 141.6k 10% raise
M4 155.8k 10% raise
SM1 171.4k
165 just is not enough for the N.Y. MARKET. These numbers might be conservative. However, your service line would help to some degree gage where your pay should be when compared to your peers
Bonus at EY are shit compared to Deloitte
It’s not... SM bonus at EY is less than SC bonus at Deloitte dollar for dollar
