The benefit of trimming payroll while hiding behind some good PR?
Unless the entire agency shifted to a 4-day week, this is a terrible idea with obvious logistical problems.
If you choose the 4-day option with reduced pay, does anyone think you won’t still be doing the same amount of work in less time, while still having to do some on your unpaid fifth day?
Grey is broke. Don’t get it twisted. This is all about cost savings
why can't the fifth day just be an optional day to work from home?
with no 15% cut?
I think disrupting the hours of the workweek is long overdue - especially in a thinking economy -but this is a PR stunt more than a solution.
I’m a HUGE fan of (ugh - kill me for using this word) disrupting the “office hours” standard as I feel it’s dated and unnecessary. Doctor: You have four days to live
Patient: Sun, Tue, Wed and Fri.
Client: Let's do Fri, Sat, Sun and 8am monday.
You can now work all 3 days of your weekend for 15% less pay. Congrats!
@O&M1 asking the real questions. I would definitely clear that while negotiating. If you make me work that day, you pay
Ah yeah @Droga5 I can see how that'd be an issue. Internally it'd be great to go to a 4 day work week, but I can imagine clients will be happy when they want something pushed out on Friday night at 7pm....
If you’re salaried and think about it as a weekday day off, with no effect on weekend days which you work without choice, then it truly is 1 day off in 7. Which is about 15%.
I’m hopeful for them that it will work, save layoffs and keep clients happy. But I’m not optimistic about it working. Donald had a better chance of being remembered as a great President than this working
WPP is merging two of its PR agencies. How long until they do it with ad agencies?
JWT (at least our office) treats Friday’s as a Flex day, where you can work from home (if you’re not required for meetings or anything else). It’s not a day off, but it helps when commutes are long and when you have kids
