McKinsey & Company How likely is McKinsey to rescind an offer if there's a recession/downturn before my start date? Received an Associate offer with a start date early in the Fall. But I'm worried about the offer being rescinded due to the ongoing McK scandals/issues and a potential recession in the making (which may prompt them to freeze hiring and/or renege offers).
Has this happened to anyone before at McKinsey, offer getting rescinded due to economic/company downturn? A bit worried

Try h red process can be slow, especially with year end stuff. I interviewed with BLK this time two years ago, and got my offer in January
Given year-end, economic circumstances, market uncertainty, and holiday season, recruitment is slow
I've seen a few Blackrock people on this bowl here talk about hiring freezes and there's a lot of uncertainty at the moment - not sure if your interview process was one of the ones that got caught in the crossfire? I think it's rude of them to ghost, don't get me wrong but I don't think going back to them angrily is gonna help matters personally
I’m in the process. Was warned upfront it would be slow. I thought I was not considered and then the interview invites came. I’d be patient
Honestly, I wouldn't take that approach at all. The current market is definitely not in candidates' favor, so I would tread lightly. And like the others mentioned, there are likely a lot of other circumstances happening behind the scenes that are slowing things down. I get that it's frustrating, but you're not guaranteed a second interview. Cross your fingers, think positive and keep following up.
Wow. 3 weeks? That's one long wait. Have you sent a follow-up email for the 3rd week? I'm guessing that they anticipated busy weeks that's why they told you to follow up weekly. Something must have come up. I know 3 weeks is a long long time but I would personally wait for another week but if nothing happens, I'm out.
Haven’t emailed him yet this week but I’m sure it won’t do anything. If I don’t hear anything this week I’m out
Heard rumors that BlackRock is about to go through a recession. That might be the case as to why you haven't been hearing from your recruiter. Are you still willing to wair for another week?
Yeah. Nothing. Emailed the recruiter Tuesday for a final follow up. Blown off again. Fuck it.
Probably because they have a lot of applicants to screen. Might as well start applying somewhere else. I'm not saying that it is a lost cause. I'm just saying that you should be productive while waiting for their update. Best of luck!
After weeks he replied last Monday telling me how they “reevaluated” and are closing the position but to let him know what other positions I’m interested in so he can help me with those. No thanks lol
Don’t lose hope. Finance recruiting usually slows down around this time of the year as companies wait to see who quits because of a disappointing bonus. That said, if you feel you built a connection with either of your first round interviewers or the hiring manager don’t be afraid to reach out directly to them.
