Not until the old guard passes.
I will! Thank you! I hope you have the weekend you deserve too.
I personally prefer hybrid. You get the flexibility of WFH but also get to have face time with your team and clients.
My last role was 2 days in office and I just recently switched companies and am 3 days in and I actually prefer it, but my hours are 9-4:30ish. But at my company 3 days is the norm, with most people working remotely Monday-Friday. They also have good food catered most weeks and I use the onsite gym in the morning and can roll in around 9. I find that I can get a lot done on my in-office days and take it easier on my WFH days.
No. You should of course be in the office if you care about your career.
OK Karen
Careers are always made in a company’s headquarters. The in-office people have a leg up. That won’t change. It’s everyone’s choice what matters the most to them.
No. Proximity and accessibility have strong benefits that aren’t overcome with teams/zoom etc. especially so in a relationship driven business.
No. You're missing too much being at home. It's not all about the work. It's about the chit chat and politics. Grabbing lunch together. Etc. If all the bosses are at home, I guess different. But they are usually the ones in office.
You aren’t the decider of your productivity. Of work from home was obviously more productive then this wouldn’t be an issue. If you don’t trust your exec team to make the right decision for the business on this, then you probably shouldn’t work there
My manager is WFH so it’s level for me. Though in office I do get more work done. I still say Hybrid is the future, and I would avoid 5 days in the office like the plague. You know for a fact the “old guard” is there. If they don’t like their wives they need a hobby 🤣
No I don’t.
We are in the game of do you like me? If you are not liked you don’t get the plump assignments. If you don’t you get fired in the long run. Your efficiency is a subjective determination.
Personally, I think there is some good things to be said about Remote work, but if I’m being honest Covid is quasi-over. In my humble opinion, the best work is performed as a joint effort in office. In line, on time and ready to contribute. IMHO
Is everyone paid the same? If I were remote (which I am), this would be like 10th on my list of priorities. If it became an issue, I'd just find another job.
What level are you? I find the more junior, the less the relationship management/getting good assignments matters. As you ramp up for partnership, though, a deficit there can be meaningful, but by then it can be too late to meaningfully address.
Depends on how long your commute is.
I'm in-house and 70% of my team is remote.
