All virtual: Yes, we pack up materials for upcoming labs or simple demonstrations, notify parents to pick up at school (office staff takes kit to doors), drop off at homes only if parents indicate they can’t pick up. Anything to help student engagement.
Otherwise, I inform my students that we, WE, are lab partners and they need to walk me through the hands on activities, which is my contribution to the lab group. I use a second camera and zero in on the hands-on demo. When I ask for responses, I started ‘waiting’ for longer periods and it ‘seems’ like I’m getting more involvement.
Yes, each student will be given a scale (kitchen style), digital thermometer and some basic plastic beakers and graduated cylinders. About $40 per student.
