Abused and isolated as a kid. I have terrible memory. Like I don’t really remember the past few months except in broad strokes and memories of my childhood are more non existent than existent. I’m working through this with my therapist. Does anyone have any experience with emotional and memory repression? Curious on your advice

My sister remembers everything too. It wasn’t until she started reminding me of things did I realize how terrible our parents were. I’m doing much better than her, she hasn’t had full employment yet after 5 years out of undergrad. But the cost is, ive been so out of touch with my emotions. I know only 3.

And for most of my life I’ve always had this uncomfortable feeling I ignore and try to push past. But I don’t think I can live like this any longer so I’m looking to change

I understand. Also think that my brother tends to minimize emotions and he’s one of the most analytical people I know. It has cost him a little bit of a problem in terms of relationships and making any connections with people including long-term friendships. Everyone loves him, but he only halfway trusts them.

On the other hand, I’m not the poster child of “happily ever after” either. Really do you envy him his equanimity. He envies my EQ and my ability to create and maintain friendships, I’m in my mid-40s now I think most of our lives we’ve been looking for finding some sort of balance between the two of us. I’m glad you’re working towards a balance for yourself.

First I am so sorry you experienced so much hurt, especially at such an early age.

My brother and I grew up in an abusive situation. For the longest time, I remembered everything acutely. My brother “forgot” and I was so angry at him for trying to get whitewash our childhood and would remind him how he had his head slammed repeatedly into the ground and various other abuses. I realized later that what I was doing was wrong. I was undermining his defense mechanisms.

Of the two of us, he is the better adjusted and more successful person. Until I learned to “forget” I was an extremely angry obsessive person who always felt victimized. My defense mechanism was anger.

Sometimes, remembering with clarity isn’t healthy. Please also consider that your protective mechanisms may be beneficial.

Currently sitting in my sweatpants with a full groutfit. Rediscovered a pair of blue sweatpants that I left at my parent’s place during the holidays and brought that back. Have a similarly colored soft blue hoodie that I wear with it. Now I alternate between my groutfit and bloutfit biweekly to synchronize with my laundry schedule. I go outside wearing it too. I genuinely think I’m on the brink of quitting. Nope, I have no exit plan, no job searches started, not even an updated resume. But I do have three 4:00 AM-ers in the last 8 days, partners telling me to *increase* my hours, and anxiety that’s so high I can barely eat or sleep. Hello RSM coworkers! I am thrilled to be moving to RSM into a Scheduler roll. I just found out yesterday and want to be as prepared as possible in the next steps.

So here are my questions.

How long does the background study take? I'm guessing admin staff have a study that is faster and less complicated than someone in Tax ect.

When training at home what did you need that wasn't supplied by RSM? My home office is well stocked but I want to be as prepared as possible.

However, I accepted last week a (better) offer at another company (B) and they will start soon my H1-B transfer.

I got offer from persistent with 31lpa.
But most of the compensation they added into skill bonus-1400000. Due to that my basic salary is low- 50k as compared to my cctc basic salary, which is 63k with 19.5lpa.
Is it normally happening with everyone joining to persistent?
Can Persistent increase basic salary component and reduce the skill bouns?
I asked hr to increase my basic, but she mentioned that it’s system generated and standard format, vary cmpny to cmpny.

Any advice as to how to help my other-half (who has bouts of anxiety and depression) apply to jobs? He’s going through a particularly rough patch at the moment. We had a big chat the other day which was great! However, even if we agreed that I’m doing everything I can for him (his words) it has to come from him (which we both agreed). I’ve been going through it this month. Was on Buspirone for 4 weeks which caused a n of depression. Now I just started Zoloft and I’m feeling extra anxious and hypersensitive. For those of you on medication, how do you manage delayed flights causing you to miss appointments? Often, cancellation policies are strict, expensive, and require several days notice.

I think it’s over with my SO of 3 years. He tells me he loves me and wants to work things through but has lied to me several times in the past - some which were the same mistake three times. He knows he needs professional help (he’s also on antidepressants and has PTSD) but I don’t know how I can trust him again. Feeling completely broken - cannot believe the situation we’re in. My anxiety has been at bay after changing my job and just feeling like I HAVE control over my life. But now it's back because I feel like I'm behind in other aspects of my life (I.e dating). I have so many friends getting engaged and I just feel... anxious since I am SO single. I'm 27, and I know I'm at that age where people do but it just sucks. I've been on the apps too and it's just... more demotivating honestly than anything else

Saw my therapist this past Friday and he gave me a useful trick to build better behavior patterns. Whenever you have work to do but would rather nap or something, tell yourself 3 negative effects of the nap and 3 positive effects of doing the work. You might still take the nap, but if you can get in the habit of thinking of it negatively, you'll take less naps when you need to be doing other things.

Doesn't matter what the activities are. Could be working out vs eating more, could be socializing IRL vs wasting time in FB (lol)

Anyone else heard of this/tried it?
