Yes. i have been in the mortgage industry for 10 years and originating for 7. you can make a great living if you work hard and are willing to learn. it does not come over night and takes a lot of education and practice to understand the business but it is worth it in my opinion. it is one hell of a rollercoaster though so if you are looking for a steady dependable paycheck originating is not the best fit. feel free to reach out if you ever have questions.

For rent paid below 1 lakh there is no need to submit landlord's PAN. I have calculated based on my HRA and if I show rent paid as around 96k my tax refund will be around 13k.

Question for folks with second homes: Considering buying a vacation home but would be primarily for family use. We currently have a primary residence with a mortgage balance of ~640K, so my understanding is I could only deduct the mortgage interest on 110K of the second mortgage to stay under the 750K cap. From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?
