I did it ~1 year ago when it first came out and it was a complete introduction. I’ve since gone further and I’ve learned Python and more SQL!
It’s a good starting point to introduce concepts and definitely great resume booster. I’ve been able to leverage it to get higher salaries too. I don’t work a data analytics job but I have it as an additional skillset. If you want to land a job, I’d suggest doing a bunch of additional projects and creating a portfolio 😊
Good luck!
A good place to start is with DataCamp. They have a bunch of pre-made projects that you can use as a starting point. I’ve done both SQL & Python projects in there and I built a portfolio via GitHub! There are also skill boosters for practice, learning paths, and more. This is where I’d go next after the google certificate.
Once you get a few of those under your belt, there are loads of places that you can find easy (but still impressive) projects that you can copy. Try YouTube, GitHub, and good old Google to find these. Choose ones that pique your interest as that will keep you engaged!
I finished it in January, started in July 2021. I don’t have any formal experience as a data analyst but I’d like to get into field. I’m aware it won’t really help in terms of getting an entry level job but it’s a starting point at least.
It took me 2 weeks or less to get to capstone. The first 2-3 courses has a fast track if you know your data analytics. I could be done with the capstone but it’s kind of annoying to do(just to upload csv data sets into your preferred platform or use R to analyze them in Kaggle). I’ve asked my google recruiter if this certificate captures their attention, they said it’s less than likely impactful at least for the job she tried to recruit me for, which was analytical lead.
I started it and yet to finish. It’s my goal to finish this year. But, am enjoying it!! I got a bad habit to start a few courses at the same time and then get overwhelmed.
I’ve heard pretty good reviews about this.
