Generally? You go into the office less than you did when you worked full-time
Most of us are employed at 40 hours a week and yet we work 50% to a 100% more than that. So I’m asking how does working part time work in a system that already exploits you. But maybe as a technologist you get off kind of easy to begin with
I can’t imagine how it would work. I think about cutting back to four days, but even if they let me, I’d be cramming six days worth of hours into four days instead of five. And doing it for less money. This industry is so out of control on what constitutes a normal work week.
Yeah work for yourself and only take projects that fit your schedule.
But the benefits and health care
I’ve never heard of someone working part time, except for freelancers who decide how much they work.
At my last shop we had a few new mothers who only worked 3 days a week. A few older mothers who WFH 1-2 days a week. Nothing wrong with it if your agency can accommodate and spread things around.
