I thought about doing this too but didn’t want to take on debt to try something new and end up trapped.
Can’t offer advice on the MBA, but here to say I am stuck in litigation too and hating it !
I woke up stressed out and depressed again today. Another Monday in litigation. I’m too old and poor to go back to school for another degree at this point and wouldn’t want to take on any more debt. Still have not found the exit, but hoping for some success stories to motivate me and let me know that there is (happier/more fulfilling?) life after litigation….
I feel like this most days, the other days are the weekends. I hope things take a turn for you! I wouldn’t wish these spiraling feelings of doom on anyone, not even my least favorite opposing counsel. I spent some time working with a career coach last year. I don’t know that I would recommend the one I used but I think career coaching in general could be helpful, if you haven’t looked into that yet.
I feel like MBA and finance in general is a better option out of undergrad if you don't do law school at all . But if you've already suffered through law school and hate being a lawyer it's marginally better to work in finance but a similar drudgery + bad colleague combination (in general). It's up to you at the end of the day and if you get into a good program and really want to pursue the field I think it's definitely better than being a lawyer especially a litigator. Even if you don't end up in private equity or whatever you could cop a good project management job or something similar. Good luck
What is it you don’t like about litigation that you think an mba might solve? What jobs are you thinking about after an mba? I think an issue u might face is it likely to lead to a corporate job which may cause similar issues to big law but it’ll be helpful to understand where you see it taking you.
I am fortunate enough to be able to pay for it out of pocket.
