Has anyone included their external-facing work in their online portfolio and had any pushback from previous employers claiming that they can’t show their work at all? If so, how did you navigate that and still get severance?

I made a couple errors at a new job. An important document to be distributed had wrong information on it, which was proofread by 2 other people. Then a couple of typos in emails, the person micromanaging me told me to send out but I didn’t fix the errors. Failed to meet a deadline but completed 95%. I was written up over all this last week, fired this week. There’s a lot more to this but I think it’s because the DM doesn’t like me.

Tired of this constant grind and constant layoff situation in NYC. Thinking of making the move to LA. Any thoughts? Yay or nay?

Didn't have top grades, wasn't on law review. Worked at a midsize firm and was laid off in march-- have about 3 years experience in a hot practice area. Have been applying and had some interviews at larger shops but nothing has come of it. I got laid off 2 weeks ago and at the time was seeing projections online that the fed govt pmts would only cover about 25 million ppl (not sure how accurate that is).

My claim is still pending with CA but the total amount projected per week is only $400; doesn’t include an extra $600 fed govt pmt. Does anyone know if the $600 gets added somewhere else in the process? I hope I didn’t just miss out because I was lay-off 25,000,001

Alrighty All, I posted a couple of months ago when I got laid off. I took some time to enjoy my summer and now it’s time to get back to work. During that time, I made the decision to relocate to the east coast, my new home is in Columbus Ohio! So…if anyone knows of or is hiring in the food contract management area or something where my skills could transfer, hit me up!

Follow up post to my last post…My husband was laid off from the company where I also work. I am feeling really isolated / depressed about working and moving forward. I’m also getting to a stage where I’m really sad that people haven’t reached out to either my husband or myself to send well wishes or provide support. It’s like they don’t know what to say or I make them feel awkward so they don’t bother…I’m trying to focus on a few that have been supportive but it’s hard…Any words of advice? 😞

I am a new associate (1 month in mid-tier firm) and I struggle to get work to fill up the whole day. In honest time, i get about 3-5 billable hours a day. Am I going to get in trouble or fired over this?? I am putting my best efforts when I do get work and I ask for work sometimes. At this point I feel like I am being annoying too…

Low billable, low pressure work in privacy law? Slowly realizing that as my boys get older, the money isn’t worth what I’m missing out on. Currently a tech litigation associate with lots of hearing, depo and trial experience (I’ve appeared on my own at hearings/depos) at a well respected firm. I have limited privacy experience despite being hired for that reason… Have my CIPM and CIPP/US /E and /C. Remote preferred; hubs is pilot with cool intl transfer opportunities. Money isn’t issue.
