I did but keep in mind historicals vs today. I got an extra 25 shares before they were at $1k, at $3k the numbers are going to be lower.
Know what you are realistically expecting your TC to be over 4 years and approach it that way, knowing some years will be more lucrative than others.
What's the breakdown? I have heard you can negotiate the components as long as the total is overall same. Anecdotally, their offers are around 80% cash, 20% stocks in the first two years and opposite in years 3 and 4.
It also depends on the level. Not much room to do that at L4/L5. Mid to high L6 roles have a large RSU component
Another thing is if you're coming in from another tech company with unvested RSUs, they may match it in the form of their RSUs

I just straight up asked for additional RSU’s and got a 10% bump in both RSU’s and sign on…one thing to keep in mind when you see anecdotes online is when those anecdotes were dated (e.g. if it’s from 1 year ago even the RSU’s were worth 33%+ less)
The number of RSU’s is derived from that total comp number (e.g. target comp is 250k, last year could have been 150 base + 50 RSU’s, where today that would be 30 RSU’s)
Thanks for the comments about historical and current stock prices. That definitely puts things into perspective. I’ve never negotiated in my life but I think I was battling between the thought you should always negotiate no matter what vs I am happy with the offer they gave me.

Totally get it and I was in the exact boat lol, very happy with offer, read all the “always negotiate”articles. I would say there truly is no harm in asking if done tactfully (e.g. super appreciative, I mentioned I was happy with the offer but wanted to be more invested in the long term success/growth). The new, increased offer was ready within 4 hours lol, so it really is part of the process.
