Solid companies in the EU that hire entry level product managers from an MBA? I have a finance background in a tech start up, and I’m polishing my Python and SQL skills. Visited a few tech companies in Amsterdam (Booking.com, TomTom, etc) and I was wondering if there are any well known opportunities or programs.

I have just joined Amazon Retail as sr Program Manager a month ago. I miss banking/technology now. I have heard that I can move teams. I know it’s too early so I don’t know how to approach this situation and potential HMs. Reaching out to this community to seek help if you have similar roles for which you (or your network) is hiring, would you be able to help? It’s better to be in a relevant role and be best than performing poor in current role. Please help.

Rising Star
Yes. Left PwC for a whole year off. Sent applications to midsize firms and got offers from all three that I interviewed with; was even able to play the matching game. But this was in 2018, definitely a different environment.
I guess some of this has to do with luck as well. You never know…
Yes, I was laid off after the 2008 financial crisis after graduating law school. I was extremely lucky to have had a job at all when I graduated but after a year, they couldn’t afford to keep me. It was tough getting back but that was the market more than anything else.
I would say that if the job market is good it isn’t an issue. I know women who took several years off with their kids and came back to be CFOs of Fortune 500 companies so it absolutely happens in the right market conditions.
Glad to hear! I need time for family and don’t need to get a job by a certain date since husband works but was wondering if that one year off will be held against me.
I'm currently doing this, I never thought of it as a sabbatical actually will remember that term. I was just so done with my job, overworked and not appreciated I just left. Doing some contract work in the mean time but not looking for full time anytime soon (also found out I was prego after I resigned 🤣🤣) so there is that to. I'm assuming if you have experience it shouldn't be an issue.
I took off 8 months between jobs and landed just fine. My old firm was not treating me right and I had a lot of health issues come up with my dad and I couldn't handle both. I was honest with potential employers about both and they were mainly concerned that things had stabilized with my dad, which they had
Thank you for taking time to reply! This makes sense; if I was hiring manager I would think the same way.
Was the best most stressful relieving experience
Yes. Not hard to get a job, just speak positively to interviews. Easier to get a job if you take a firm sponsored sabbatical (ie you come back to the same job).
Already left my job few months ago. Had an interview for a decent opportunity but think it’s better I stay home with kids for some time before I get into grind again.
I did after an aquisition and layoff. It was great. Skied a ton that year and got in great physical shape.
I want to get in better shape; one of the reasons to take time off. Been blessed with good genetics but that goes only so far as you age; time to get serious about health and fitness.
