Black women made the career switch from corporate America to entrepreneurship during Covid-19. I'm not there yet, but I've been appreciating content from jobdoctortessa on social media. She talks about the 5 levels of growth in careers, key abilities for each one and how to transition.
Wow, that is awesome, thank you so much for sharing this w me I will check that account out!!!
I was VP around my 8th yr of my career and CTO about my 10th yr.
My advice is find a smaller pond so that you’ll be a bigger fish. Try finding a startup that you think will last at least 3yrs and join them as a VP or C-level.
I didnt consciously did that but that’s what happened to me. I was a Sr Prod Manager in a fortune 500 company, then my former boss recruited me his VP in his new startup.
Im no longer V and C level. But even up to now, i still get an invite to be recruited as a V or C
Thank you for sharing your experience! I actually just did that about 6 months ago, also, and like you not for conscious strategic reasons, just because a great opportunity came up at a small start up. Nice to hear you’ve had the opportunity to progress in that environment!!!
