Hello All,
I have recently joined FIS Global around end of April. My mother recently met with an accident and she needs to be operated.
I haven't been able to update the anything regarding the insurance part yet on FIS portal.
Will my mother's treatment be covered under the insurance? If yes, what's the procedure for the same? What are the documents that I need to submit in order to claim the amount?
Can anyone please guide?

I know of some, but my firm doesn’t frown upon leaves. It will be very firm dependent. It’s also important to consider why the leave is necessary. For example, if you’re feeling overwhelmed leave will certainly help, but you will need to make changes to prevent the overwhelm or you will be back in the same situation.
Yes—faith is everything and God always provides!
I did for a month, realized I was at the wrong company, left, and have been much happier.
I’m bipolar. I’ve taken three leaves for manic episodes. I made partner.
Just commenting to share support and let the author attorney know that I am sending energy and support out into the universe for you. Do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself. That’s the most important thing.
Yes. Three times in 8 years. Still here! Colleagues just knew it was medical leave and not reason.

Thank you for asking this question. It’s so great to hear the encouraging responses above.

We have director at my firm that has been burnt out three times over the years (like 12 years). He has then been on sick leave for a couple of months and gradually came back. We also have a partner who was burnt out before I started. Not sure how long she was gone but she has worked since then and it encourages us to havr a reasonable workload. Another partner had alcohol problems due to wanting to perform well during the days and drinking during tje evenings. He decided not to drink again so he doesnt drink at work events etc. I appreciate the transparancy from these colleagues as it shows that they are human and I also appreciate my workplace and colleagues who are very non-judgemental.
Yes, as a senior associate. Still got good work and made partner.
I took a leave of absence after my first semester + one month of law school. I was super stressed, and unsure if law school was for me. I almost quit, but my professor talked me into a LOA. I went back to work for 2 years, and then resumed my second semester of 1L. I went from middle of my class to graduating in the top 5%. Not the same as what you’re asking, of course, but wanted to share that mental health leaves are not always bad! Take care of yourself!
Like a formal leave of absence? Or just quit a job for a month then got a new one?
I took leave for a month to go to rehab which is pretty much a mental health leave
Of course, why not?
Yes. It was relatively short, but it really helped me turn things around.

Yes! About a month. And I ended up staying with my firm. So grateful for their support. I did forfeit my annual raise, but I really needed the time away so I’m at complete peace.
Would highly recommend taking the leave if you need it. I was supposed to be up for partner this year and now that’s not happening. Everton has been supportive to my face but it is taking a lot of effort to get things back to where they were. I’m still not certain that I’ll be able to get back to my status as a superstar. But echo others - your mental health comes first.
I requested FMLA to go to outpatient rehab. I ended up getting fired a week later. Did the outpatient for two months and took the next three to find a new firm. My new firm is remote, great boss, and I’m making 100k more.
Yes. But I did end up going to a new firm which was the right move.
Have taken medical leave before. You don’t have to go into details as to the reason w the firm and an ADM-style role can help advocate for you to transition your matters. When I returned, it was pretty slow thereafter but then it picked up and I was at the same firm for several years thereafter. Prioritize your health - your life is bigger than work and besides, it also affects your performance so kind of defeats the point to stay on
Yes I took a month off due to mental health issues following the resolution of a truly awful case. The firm called it a sabbatical but everyone knew I was on the verge of a mental breakdown and that’s why I was gone for a month. Made partner 1.5 years later.
Yes. Almost two years. Now thriving in my chill job that I’ve been in for about 15 months now.
Dont regret that time off for anything even though it is extremely difficult on a mental emotional and financial level. It isn’t the end of your career.
