The sad thing is that I'm competing right now for visas with a bunch of people who submitted several applications. I got my masters here, pay taxes, have a student loan, and I'm competing against folks in India who submitted 3-4 applications with no experience, loans, masters, or real job.
D1, I'm a campus hire. I'm senior and it's around 140k compare it with others if you want. My rp/coach both came on h1b. My current director was on h1b. All drive luxury cars. There's no international cohort at PwC. Tata etc account for 20% of visas total. What trump is doing means nothing. Most will simply outsource and automate instead of hiring locals.
All firms have been abusing of the H1B visa quotas. Companies like Cognizant, Tata, Infosys and Wipro are the worst offenders. It's time to be more selective about who can get these visas,
Was in a meeting this week and Senior Manager said that the recruiters were no longer "targeting" H1B for hire because the expedited processing is suspended. We shouldn't have been targeting a visa in the first place, just the overall best people regardless if on visa or not. Now they are pushing harder for employee referrals for Non visa employees.
Have lots of friends here and they all seem to indicate they are paid less than other peers not on a visa and are willing to take less to secure a job.
They pay me the same amount.
P1, how do you know? Have you asked other people about their salaries?
The only way to get paid less is if you're on l1>h1b. Those folks salary is lower since they transferred. It's the only loop exist. The firm can't bump their salary by more than 25% vs what they were making.
Pwc1 it is the free market unfortunately. Just because you went to school here doesn't entitle you to a visa compared to someone who has better hands in experience than you do
