Have an exit opp to large pharma; catch is that they're my current client. How bad of a look would it be to go? 15 YOE, 3 in current role

Current:
- 200k + 10% bonus
- love my small team
- get to lead a portfolio of interesting projects
- I'm the most senior/highest performer under my boss
- consulting arm of a non-consulting business. Upper leadership has stifled our growth

Opp:
- closer to 300k + 20%
- I like the team
- work is less interesting but could be a springboard

This is a no brainer. Go to pharma; you can always pivot back into consulting

Going to a current client is fairly common. I’d say check your engagement letter for “buyouts” and your employment letter for anything too.

like

That's good to know, and also a great point about the contracts. Appreciate your insights!

Can you take me with you?

likeuplifting

beyond 'buyouts', make sure you have a solid story of how you ended up there. if consulting firm has a non-solicitation clause in the contract, they could make your/client's life difficult. The story needs to pivot on you approaching the client, not vice versa!

How are you paid so little as a principal with 15yoe

like

Definitely leave. You can always go to another pharma or biotech. Leaving consulting is going to open many doors.

Where’s your current role? I’d love to go from independent to a small team again

100% take it. You’re also being underpaid in your current role

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.

Hi everyone I am relocating to Hyderabad next month. Even though I look forward to meeting new people I can’t seem to ignore the fact that I will move away from family. My family situation is already complicated, my mom and dad are not on good terms so we don’t live together and when I move it’ll get worse. I am financially independent but I feel guilty for not being there for them. Is there any possibility of getting transferred to Gurgaon office(a lot closer to my home)if I talk to my manager?

I work heavily in AWS and am looking to learn another cloud platform. I have zero knowledge of azure and gcp and would like input on which to learn. Azure would make sense since its the second largest in terms of market share, but GCP seems far more interesting and technically challenging with things like Kubernetes and BigQuery.

My wife is in sales at Mercedes and she has been averaging $200k a year and growing YoY. She loves her job, however she works long days and barely gets time off. We plan on having kids within the next year or two, and it’s highly u likely that she’ll be able to keep her current gig. We want to find a career that allows her to work remote or that at least gives her a better work life balance so that she can see her kids grow up. Should she get certifications to give her a shot at adtech?Too late?

So I recently graduated in the fall semester from school, and I am now trying to find a entry-level full-time position in my field. Does anyone know any good tips of what entry level positions I should look into?
