You can never go wrong with a nice shirt and sports jacket and jeans. I wouldn’t overthink it
I’ve heard that if everyone in the office you’re applying too wears very casual, then if you wear a suit you could be showing that you’re not a good fit culturally, especially for big tech weirdo firms like Google. Ask the recruiter what you should wear.
My husband was known as "that guy who wears his city's sports teams jerseys" in the Bay Area offices. Casual but shows personality.

A suit is never too much for an interview.
East coast, West coast or somewhere in between? That's probably the biggest determinator. A suit isn't out of the question for the first and would probably be weird in the second. I have no idea for the last.
Feels like a good bet, though I have no personal insight.
