I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?
Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

My AD partner and I started to put animals having relationships photoshopped into the images of the deck. No one has noticed so far. We have also done random words, names of friends, places, mascots, loved ones, inside jokes. It's been going for years. We just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention. It was an experiment for us. And either we have become good at this running joke, or no one cares. Ah! And we have also done it in TV spots. The Props on the set are great for this.
I was part of one of two teams on perhaps the worst, most drawn out project in human history. The other copywriter named an idea in the google deck something mildly insulting but very punny towards client. It was caught well before the deck went to them and we all had a good laugh about it. Until our super micromanaging CD caught wind and actually pulled up the doc history to see who was to blame. Luckily she was “anonymous platypus” and no one snitched. It was great 😂
Oh god that’s terrible. I’m so sorry.
Only in my head
TO CLARIFY, I/my team did not do this.
We were pressed for time so we outsourced a video to a video production company and the final round from them included what seemed to be an insult to us at the very end....
Would you work with said company again if they did that? We’ve worked with them plenty of times before and never had had an issue.
Thankfully we caught it before we sent it on to the end client.
I second EP 1 and ACD2, work with them directly. It’s probably one employee, but thank goodness it was caught before going to client. It looks bad on all parties involved.
No. Dumb. Never.
...... then you haven't truly lived. ☠️
Oh god. I was just telling this story- my old boss named a file for an overseas developer “forfuckingdev.pdf” It became a thing and he had to apologize, but kept his job
Not exactly... but I worked with a designer who loved to name photoshop layers with disses and curses to the client. 😂 Always check your layers before releasing PSDs to the pubs!

Had it happen with a translation house once.
I know a guy who got fired for putting something in a deck slide as a joke and forgetting to take it out in time. Client noticed, he was putting his stuff in boxes before the end of the day
