I just did. Copywriter too. Life's too short to be miserable.
Yes, but I didn’t quit when our industry was in the shit. I quit when our industry was doing really well and there were plenty of other jobs available,
I did, but I’d had very successful freelance stints before, work in a specialty, and I had a year of savings behind me. What I should have done was taken a medical leave from work. That would’ve given me a bit of a break and kept me being paid full-time. If I had it to do over again, that’s the route I’d go. Maybe I’d go back to the job after the leave ended, maybe I wouldn’t. But, that’s what I would do.
And it all turned out fine.
Yes, I did. Yes, it was. I did it this past February with zero plan and zero prospects in this shitshow of a market. Nothing it worth being miserable. I know exactly how you feel.
I did it last week. I'll let you know how it goes

Is this a job as in “occupation,” or are you referring to the job of being a parent? ; )
Only you know what the right choice is for your situation. If you can afford to be without a job for a few months, do it. If not, keep it until you find something better or pray for a small layoff lol
I left copywriting years ago, best decision I ever made. Massively happier and more money - but the market was booming and I had a job lined up before leaving.
Land a job you want and negotiate a start date. Uncertainty is not relaxing, even if you take time off
Yes, years ago. No prospects when I did, took six months off and traveled Europe to think about next steps. Pivoted into a new career and never looked back. Recently cut loose (after 15 years), and now looking to pivot once more.
Disclaimer: this does not apply to all situations, e.g harassment, abuse, etc.
See if you can find peace with your job as it is. (While you keep looking for other stuff in earnest.) Accept that you cannot change the things that are bad. And that this is temporary, no matter what. Having the patience to push through the pain, without giving up on yourself, can be empowering in its own way.
Yes. I did after finally getting a job after getting laid off in this job market. I was only there for 3 weeks but it was so toxic and not worth it. It took me another 4 months to get a job, but now I’m employed again at a much better place. I don’t regret it at all. If you can afford it, do it, especially if it’s messing with your mental health.
