I’m honestly tired of being at an agency and not feeling as fulfilled as I used with strategy as a career. 1. Just transferred to big 4 FDD as snr from big4 audit (~a month ago, with no deal yet under my belt)
2. Studying for fmva certification
3. 1+ year plan is to take the GMAT & apply to ivy league mba program. Planning to break into IB and then PE later.
4. Got approach recently by a recruiter from Houlihan Lokey (HL) for an associate position in the Midwest. Comp range 120k -130k. I make about 100k now.
- Is the move going to be worth it? what'd you do

I have an MHA and 4 years of management experience. I’m currently a manager, but seeking a director level position. Any advice for trying to temper my expectations? I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? First-year tax staff that started end of Q3, and just had my first year-end performance evaluation meeting. Still a blank slate in terms of tax experience, but I honestly do have a slight interest in international tax. Brought it up and I was given some names to find some work opportunities in that area. Besides SALT, any other specialized areas I should try to get some experience in? Also open to any tips and tricks to help tailor my workflow and experiences for the months to come.

I work at M&A Strategy. But we hardly do any M&A activities (that are limited to separation and integration) and I want move eventually to PE/VC. Do you think I should look for other working options?

Once you’ve applied via referral link to a position, does it keep you in a referral pool or do you need to constantly get a new referral link if you apply to another role say 4 months later? Curious since they only last 30 days and i feel bad asking for a link a 3rd time now…..

I work at a tech startup and it mostly comprises developers. They can't stop emphasizing their importance in the food chain and I can't figure if I'm too humble or they're too arrogant.
