Hello everyone, so I’m new to my position. I’ve always been placed as a warehouse coordinator. However, I am very thankful to be where I am in my career but the company that I work for is a start up. I’m still new to all of this. Any suggestions on how I can become a better senior supply chain specialist? And how I can make changes with in my company’s’ warehouse?

To become better at this role, I recommend developing an understanding of all aspects of the supply chain, from procurement and inventory management to production and distribution. Also, gaining knowledge about data analysis and process improvement techniques can also help you identify opportunities for operational improvements in the warehouse.

To make changes within your company's warehouse, it would be beneficial to start by assessing the current processes and identifying any areas that could be improved or streamlined. Researching new technologies or industry trends can provide great insights into modern supply chain management strategies that could help optimize operations.

There are a pros and cons to working at a start up. Your company may be at a stage where there are still trying to figure out how to optimally do things, meaning there is a lot of opportunities for you to improve or implement processes and solutions.

However, be expected to “wear many different hats” because start ups go at a very fast rate, so you may find yourself doing things that initially you have not signed up for.

Nevertheless, the key is to continually gain valuable experience that you can vouch for yourself in time for performance reviews or promotions. You yourself need to take as much initiative to let them know your worth in the company.

Instead of focusing on making changes with company’s warehouses first, focus more on working more efficiently with them. Since you were a warehouse coordinator, you would understand the pain points of working in this industry. Having a good relationship with the vendor will be key to how your logistic operations will succeed - then you can slowly take initiative to find improvements.

It's important to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. Take some time to do research and familiarize yourself with innovative technologies, global trade regulations, and production processes. It would help if you also learned ways to improve warehouse efficiency and streamline inventory management. Additionally, staying aware of current market demands and supply chain complexities can help you make informed decisions for your company.

Why is education deemed more valuable on a pay scale than experience? Employers will pay someone with a degree and no experience a greater salary, than someone who has exhibited the experience. currently tossing up between staying at a global company (who is in the process of some positive changes) with an amazing manager who supports my career and flexible working … however comes with the inherit issues that come with a long standing global company

compared with a role at a smaller mga, higher salary (around 30%) more , more visibility career wise and some great employee benefits , management seem to be supportive and low staff turnover

which would you choose here

If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

I'd like to send another email today (to the hiring mgr and recruiter) reiterating my interest along with a list of references. Thoughts on sending the references without them asking? I don't do well with panel interviews and I'm hoping they look past that and check my references.
