Just read 2 books - Crack the PM interview and Inspired by Marty Cagan! You’ll kill it, all the best
Why PM? Why not McKinsey? Are you a consultant? I’m a PM and in double mind if I should try consulting! (Getting my MBA from a top-10 US)
Because the barrier of entry in breaking into PM jobs is too low now days, every Tom dick and Harry straight out of college is running GTMs, I don’t want to be part of a heard and given a Top 10 MBA, these Tom’s with a MS in CS can’t crack consulting jobs that easily. Any industry job with a Head of XYZ demands either ex IB M&A coverage or Premier Consulting
Try to work on case studies.
They may give you any scenario with a problem and ask you to build certain features, upgrade existing features and or increase market share..
You have to ask specific questions, to clear you doubts before answering. Ask as many questions about the customers, users, market, make your assumptions, but tell them what you are assuming. Then frame a problem, and then for specific customer base, design or propose a solution.
Recommend doing your research on product ownership roles, responsibilities and WoW. Many companies tend to combine PM and PO role responsibilities so it's likely you'll have to pivot at least a little bit. Agile ceremonies, backlog management and refinement e.c.t. Also recommend you do some research into PM in healthcare to identify any trends or "hot" products.
Only my opinion!
Would love to know this as well
Depends on the company. If it’s one of those FAaNg companies that have questions of general PM topics - product strategy, estimation, metrics, GTM etc. The cracking PM interview book and Lewis book should help.
I have not appeared for other firms, but I heard that there specific to the role and the industry.
There are YouTube videos on PM interviews
Not too sure about the healthcare industry specifically, but in terms of general PM interviewing advice, practice product case interviews (product sense, execution, strategy depending on the level of the job) but likely just product sense is good for most non FAANG jobs. I’ve been asked in the past about what’s my favorite product and why, or what is my least favorite product and how would I improve it so be ready for some of those kind of questions.
Try exponent mock interviews on YouTube are great imo.
Feel free to DM if you have any other questions.
Thank you for all the advice and tips!
